Singapore Fireworks Festival 2006 - Team NEW CALEDONIA by Mr Charles GERMAIN of Inter-Dis SARL

Before I start with the fireworks photos, let me share with you what happened last morning. I was driving along ECP in the morning towards East Coast Park for my morning run when a lorry in front of me on the left lane hit a cat and the cat jumped into the middle lane, which is my lane, struggling, whipping its tail and body in pain. I had not have enough time to react to stop nor change lane, as if I change lane, I think my car’s wheel will run over him or her.

So, I swayed to the left abit so that the cat can go under my car, but I did not realized that I am driving a saloon car which has a low ground clearance, and later, I heard a knock under my car. So Sorry! I looked at my rear mirror, and saw the cat still struggling behind. Too late, thought of stopping and getting the cat to the veterinarian. Forgive me.

Back to photography. I arrived at the scene at about 3.30-3.45pm and there are only 3 people with their tripods already opened. It is still early I thought, but not for long. More and more people are coming in earlier and earlier. I tried my Infrared filter which I bought to test it on my camera, but the result is not that good. I think I did some wrong steps. Some people are able to take nice infrared photos with the same camera.

Here are the many photos taken yesterday by Team New Caledonia. Be warned, there are 30 photos in total for this entry.

Taken at 3.45pm. Only 3 guys present at the scene.

Taken at 4.25pm. More and more people are coming to action front their tripods. Lucky I got myself the best spot, just nice in the middle of the firing area.

Very big and thick lo the tripod on my left. Mine is the one with a blue bag (made by my mom, very nice, got cushion somemore, heheh) around the tripod, dunno weigh how many “tonnes”. When fully extended, I think it is about my chin level; just nice mount camera will be eye level.

Taken at 5.15pm, with minimum of 33 tripods I last counted a few minutes ago before this shot.

Very the inconsiderate loh, these 2 people I am for sure they are not local by the way they speaks, guy and gal, just open their tripod and slot into this narrow space between Ashley’s tripod and a unknown guy’s. Some more the way they place their tripod, in a unprofessional way. It occupied the whole standing space and make no effort to correct it. Kick their tripod and topple their camera into the water. MUAHHAA!!

Here comes the crowd at about 7pm.

The Cisco guy was telling the official in grey to get one of the guys down from standing just along the railing near the road which is dangerous.

A different perspective of tripods waiting for their masters.

So many people at the Merlion Park until I can only see black patch of heads.

One of the first shots, I never thought the fireworks would be so high up.

I think I should reduce the aperture size with this long exposure and use a black board for multiple shots to prevent over exposure.

The end, and I still happily holding onto the shutter to take the photo of falling fireworks “debris”

tata…
