Today is the first time I am taking fireworks. And I was so excited. I arrived at Esplanade Drive, aka Esplanade Bridge, at 5.45pm, and I can see about more than 10 tripods already been set up. So, I joined in the fun and set up my beautiful tripod too. Soon later, more and more people arrived and a row of tripods are ready deployed along the railing. Ashley and Marcus also joined me after they decided to come over instead of going to Benjamin Sheares Bridge.
Standing there, waited till 9pm, at last the fireworks starts. Happily, I snapped away with my new remote and suddenly, after dunno how many shots, my shutter doesn’t work! I thought it was my remote, and I was troubleshooting my camera. 1 minute gone. I restarted my camera, but it doesn’t work! Another minute gone, I tried to detach my lens and attached again, no go! 3rd minute gone, I tried to take out and insert my memory card, but no go again! 4th minute gone, I tried to restart my camera again, no go again! 5th minute gone, I asked Jack to get me my spare memory card. So until the 6th minute, at last, I am shooting again. My 1GB micro drive is not fast enough to write the images, that is why it hanged!
Sucks big time. But, I am not disappointed. Because, just a few hours ago, a lady from Memory World called me and told me my mass order for a Transcend 4GB 120X CF card is in stock! HA! I will be shooting away during the next fireworks without having to worry about the writing speed anymore! Below are some photos I took just now. Get prepared to see a lot of photos. If your computer and internet speed is slow, please bear with the loading speed.

The top right corner is not any fault with my camera, but a plane just happen to fly into my field of view and snapped it

Esplanade by the Bay taken on Esplanade Drive

Me waiting patiently, one of the early birds who “action-front” the tripod at 5.45pm

The tidbits Abby bought, in the end, she never finish them and went home at 7pm because she needs to give her cat at home an injection. So, I brought home the whole bag of tidbits, and 3 hotdog buns.

This is Abby, took with my 50mm f1.7 lens. Same “dynasty” as my 28-135mm beercan lens. Designed and first produced in 1980. Nice bokeh isn’t it? For those who don’t know what is bokeh, it is the result of the blur image which is not in focus.

As you can see, more people are coming in at about 6.30pm.

One of my test shots before the fireworks starts at 7.30pm.

Another scenic shot.

One of the shots taken just after my memory card gone mad. Lucky I did not miss the nice parts of the fireworks.

Don't know where does the red stray lights come from.

The finale. The fireworks were nice, and the music played creates the right ambience as the fireworks cracked. Well done Italian team! It was Magical!
