Leaving for Thailand

Hey guys out there, I will be leaving for Thailand for my finale exercise tonight. It will be a 2 weeks exercise. I will be back on the 12th September, next month. So fast, 3 weeks left to commission. This exercise will be the last step towards that day.

Life has being so-so these few days. Nothing interesting to tell you all except that I think my physical fitness is dropping. haha… It is not surprising as I have not being exercising for weeks. I have to start eating lesser or else I will become as fat as a pig

Got to go prepare my hand carry luggage soon. See you all in 2 weeks time!

A New Phase

It had being a very slack week. Most of the time, I just stayed in my Syndicate room reading my Reader’s Digest and talking to friends. We do not have many things to do except area cleaning and more area cleaning. That was because we had finished our entire liaison package during the past 6 weeks. Thursday, we went to MacRitchie Reservoir for cross-country run. 5km run and I feel very enthusiastic during the run. It doesn’t feel bored like the life-run we always did round the outside parameter of Khatib Camp. Saw Tiong Soon there too! He is my only know friend who is in Artillery. Yesterday, Friday, was my last day under the “Liaison side”, and we are returning back to Gunnery Wing and under Gunnery Wing’s control and command.

We had our Happy Hours at the Officer’s Mess to celebrate our end of the specialize phrase in liaison. Now, we will continue in our next stage of training, the Integrated Phase. We will join back with the FA, Field Artillery, and FATA, Field Artillery Target Acquisition, for combine refresher course and leaving for overseas training for our Finale exercise. That will be from the 28th August to 12th September.

Time seems to past faster and faster as 1st October is edging nearer to my reach. Oh yes, not to forget to congratulate all my friends and buddies from OCS Charlie Wing in completing their JCC, Jungle Confidence Course. 100% passes and that is the Charlie strength of mind and motivation.

Free+Dom

What will I do when I have a whole day of freedom? Most likely, I will stay at home if the weather is warm. I will be playing computer games, watching television programmes or even do nothing except clicking on my computer’s mouse all day long without any idea what I should do in the net. What I like to do most is taking photographs around Singapore. Singapore is not a small country after all. There are a lot of fascinating and unique spots in Singapore, waiting for people to explore them. If I had the chance, I will spend my time walking aimlessly and taking shots of anything which can be stored behind my shutter.

Today, I went to the new National Library at Victoria Street. The building is designed by the T.R. Hamzah & Yeang International team. A unique building design with the integration of gardens, but why are so many gardens inaccessible to the public? Gardens are supposed to be utilized, but it seems to have stopped that from happening. Why?

What can goes wrong will goes wrong. That is what happened to my camera’s battery. It ran out. My 2nd battery is also low charged. I did not ensure that the 2nd battery was fully charged before I left home. As a result, I only managed to capture day shots and a few night shots of the building. I will be back next time to take more shots.

Where are you?

The AI parade went very well yesterday evening. Our AI Commander is very happy with our performance. We executed our drills correctly and proudly marching pass the parade. It was all the hard work pays off during our rehearsals.

Booking out should be the happiest and most eagerly waited moment but it was my worst moment. Realizing that I have misplaced a map which can cause a scar in my records, I panicked. I scrambled to search and ask around for the last account of the missing items with the map but there was no lead. That is it, I am going to be charged for my negligence. But while I am on my way home, Tian Hai, my bunk mate, talked to me and I started to recall what actually happened during Wednesday, the day we came back from an exercise.

As I stormed my brain and trying to dig deep into my memory, I had the feeling that I had placed my whole stack of forms together with the map into Keith’s, my buddy, cupboard. I might have thrown it into the cupboard that very night when I am trying to clear my bed to sleep as all the stores items, maps and forms were all over the bed. That should be it. I have to wait until Sunday to check whether the map is really in Keith’s cupboard. If it is not, and if it is also not in my syndicate’s room, then I think it is the end of my future in the SAF and lifetime records.

Happy 40th Birthday Singapore!

Singapore celebrated her first National Day on the 9th of August 1966 exactly a year after she gained independence from Malaysia. About NDP.

Hmm? Military personnel can’t even have the chance to stay at home to watch the live telecast of the National Day Parade? haiz… why? Tomorrow is Singapore’s 40th birthday and we Liaison cadets have to book-in into camp at 1915 just to prepare stores for the following day’s outfield exercise. It is so sickening. I can’t even celebrate with Singapore on her special day. We are from SAF… man…

This morning I had a 4 hours long test. From 1030 to 1430, without lunch break. I am so engross in my test that my hunger sense seems to have not being able to reach my brain. There must be traffic jams in my 2 tiny brains. The test I had is the most important test I had to take and I just hope I will pass this. I had never failed any test yet, but they were only barely passing by a few marks.

A Half Full Day

Is it a half day or a full day rehearsal? We were kept for almost 2 hours in camp for the AI, Artillery Institute, parade rehearsal. It was quite boring and dragging and I did not put in my fullest effort in the rehearsal, to be frank.

How many people got the chance to wear their No. 1 attire for parade? I am proud to be able to wear that in SAFTI parade square for my commissioning day on 1st October. We went to draw our No. 1, for those who are not tailoring theirs, and accessories for both No. 1 and 2. At that time, I realized that I have to put in more effort, not in the AI parade rehearsal, but to lose more weight. I can’t get the right size for my pants! A lot of the pants sizes are so small that I am wondering why the cadets, who wore those, were so thin. I think they suffered a lot… hee… Luckily, there are sizes for my top.

Drawing of the No. 1 and 2 already took us about 2 hours. By the time we booked-out, it was about 2pm. And we hadn’t had our lunch yet! I was very hungry. What makes it worst is that CPT Lam wanted us to do area cleaning and standby area before we are allowed to book-out. Why gunnery instructors are like that? Yesterday 2LT Chan, today, CPT Lam. But today is not as bad, at least CPT Lam never conduct the standby for long. He just walked along the corridor door, peeped into our rooms, and inspected only a few rooms and calls it a day. That’s the way.

Time is precious, never waste time on unnecessary stuffs.

Terrible Night

By right, today is a day when we can book-out early without dinner indented for us. But by left, don’t know who the stupid person is who indented dinner and we have to book out late.

This whole day is quite a slacking day. In the morning, we did our area cleaning. Some of us went to help to do Signal and Optics stores, some went to the cadet store to help out. Until around 10am, we went for our vaccination at the Medical Centre because we will be going to Thailand for Live Firing. After lunch, we had a briefing by LTC Yeo, whom is our head of liaison, so call boss, about the inconsistency of teaching by the instructors. We clarified with him some of our doubts and got a confirmation on the correct teachings.

Then, the lesson dragged on, now by MAJ Desmond, on our examination brief and revision. He gave us a lot of tips about the test and bet with us 5 cartons of can drinks if we only had 0-4 failures in our course. If there are 5 or more failures, each of us has to buy the instructors 1 can of drink. MAJ Desmond is actually quite a nice person. Expecting a child in a few months time, I congratulate him. He was our Syndicate DS during our first exercise and he gave us quite a lot of welfare. Respected us and teaches us with patience. Even though he was with us for only 1 week out of 2 because he was sick, we learned from him a lot during the first week.

During the evening, we went for a quick run around the camp and had a game of Frisbee. Quite sad to see him sitting alone at the stairs, watching us play for half an hour. After the game, we are expected to get ready for the standby area and to book out. But don’t know who the person is to indent the dinner. No choice we had to consume them.

FA group are back from Kranji to join us. We were told that they will be booking out with us. But in the end, they book out while we had our Frisbee game.

Today’s Duty Officer, DO, is 2LT Chan. I really hate him. He dragged our book-out timing. Our standby area lasted for almost an hour, all because he is having ‘PMS’. By the time I walk out of the gate, it was already 2010hrs. Sucks. Tomorrow we still have the AI parade rehearsal early in the morning and we booked-out so late. I hate him.

I have nothing to say… Never ever be bad to your men, or else they will hate you. Be considerate and understand your men feelings. The worst thing that will happen to you is when your men turn their backs on you. Terrible.

Heal the World - Michael Jackson

spoken:
Think about the generations and to say we want to make it a better
world for our children and our children's children. So that they know
it's a better world for them; and think if they can make it a better
place.

There's a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could be much
Brighter than tomorrow.
And if you really try
You'll find there's no need to cry
In this place you'll feel
There's no hurt or sorrow.
There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space, make a better place.

Chorus:
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for
You and for me.

If you want to know why
There's a love that cannot lie
Love is strong
It only cares for joyful giving.
If we try we shall see
In this bliss we cannot feel
Fear or dread
We stop existing and start living
Then it feels that always
Love's enough for us growing
Make a better world, make a better world.

Chorus:
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race.
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for
You and for me.

Bridge:
And the dream we would conceived in
Will reveal a joyful face
And the world we once believed in
Will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep strangling life
Wound this earth, crucify it's soul
Though it's plain to see, this world is heavenly
Be God's glow.

We could fly so high
Let our spirits never die
In my heart I feel
You are all my brothers
Create a world with no fear
Together we'll cry happy tears
See the nations turn
Their swords into plowshares
We could really get there
If you cared enough for the living
Make a little space to make a better place.

Chorus:
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for
You and for me.

Refrain (2x)

There are people dying if you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me.
There are people dying if you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me.

You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
