Was suppose to go look at a photography exhibition at 8pm but I later realized that the exhibition is actually at Singapore Art Museum and closes at 7pm. So I made changes to my trip for today.
Off I head to Funan Digitalife Mall. Before that, let me tell you a story.
As usual, I got nothing to do in office today. So, I went to another office to use the internet. I came across a thread in ClubSNAP which list down all the reliable shop names and contact numbers. Then, it strikes me, why have I not thought of it before? I picked up my phone and start calling them. I was like a tape recorder. “Hello, I wan to check with you whether you have the Minolta’s RC-1000S remote cord… Ok (wait)… dun have? or… Ok (wait)… have? How much is it? Ok… what time are you closing today?... Ok… thanks a lot!”
I made 19 calls to 19 shops and only 4 have the remote. 2 of them, one at Funan and the other one at Holland Village, only had the 5m long, RC-1000L remote selling at $65. One of the shops is a Indian shop, at Nee Soon, put me on hold and play funny music. They referred me to his other branch at Holland Village and I called them, they put me on hold again and played again funny music.
Then, another 2 shops at Funan which I called sells the 0.5m remote, which is the one I wanted, RC-1000S. One of them selling at $79! The other shop, selling at $59.90! Guess what, the 3 Funan shops are all at the same level, 5. 2 of them side by side, and the one selling at $79 is just a few stores away. When I walked pass that shop, I was giving them a sarcastic look. I think the guy is trying to jack up the price because it is a hard-to-find Minolta’s item now.
So, I went to the cheapest shop and bought my remote at $59.90. The lady still remembers that I am the one who called earlier today to enquire about the remote. They sell a lot of Minolta’s item surprisingly. Bestcam is their shop name.
Remember that I said that I am looking for a camera bag? I went to Cathay Photo again and asked a sales assistant on the Domke F-1 bag, which is $459. She told me that it is not yet the discounted price. 25% discount. Infact, all their bags are at 25% discount. I enquire about Domke J-1 and she said that they are still waiting for the shipment from USA to arrive. Maybe next month or September. OMG, but I got her namecard and will call to ask again. The discount will still be on, I think is whole year discount loh, always got discount. So after discount will be 300+. J-1 is slightly cheaper than F-1.
I walked around the shop and saw Cathay Photo is also selling the RC-1000S but in a different model name from Sony, as you know Konica Minolta sold its camera assets to Sony. It is selling at $75, OMG, I think Sony overpriced its products.
Also, I am looking for 西游记 DVD. Heheh, and I found it at TS Video at Marina Square. Very nice show. Wanted to buy it for my collection but realized that my discount card is with my sister. $69.90 before discount. Sharks. Have to make a trip down again next time.
Today is a weekday. It has been a long time since I walked alone for hours in shopping centres and only 10% of the usual weekend “water cannot flow through” crowd. Siok!
Such a long blog entry today, I think I am too happy. I can’t wait to test out my remote on my camera and start shooting fireworks!! Singapore Fireworks Festival, SFF and Singapore National Day Fireworks!! Upzzz
