Singapore National Day 2006 41st Birthday

I had got myself a very good location to take the fireworks. The foreground of the Indoor Stadium was great. I brought along a good friend, Bowei, who was my training days mate. Yesterday, it was his first time coming to shoot with me and his first time taking Fireworks.

Here are “some” photos taken. A lot of photos taken.

What’s behind me is all these condos. One of the only few who put up the National Flag. Anyone live among the blocks? Next time I can go up to your balcony to take photos and don’t need to join the crowd along the Kallang Basin.

One of the last glimpse before the National Stadium is torn down.

High up in the sky, It’s a plane, no, it’s a bird, no, it’s parachuters!

My attempt in aero photography.

One of our proud Apache.

One thing about NDP fireworks is they come in a lot of burst at one go. Makes the whole sky clutter.

Balloons flying from the stadium. Can't see cleary la... only can see lines of red n white balloons.

Mars Attack!

Singapore Fireworks Festival 2006 - Team SINGAPORE by Mr Hery NG of Spectaworks Pte Ltd

Yesterday night the Singapore Team smoke out the whole place. Their fireworks produce way too much smoke. Or maybe the ambitious Singapore Team wants to give viewers more fireworks and decided to put a lot at one time, but created a side effect, smoky scene. I wonder those who are at the Sheares Bridge or anywhere near there are coughing all the way.

Here are some of the photos I took.

The crowd at 5.50pm.

The crowd at 7.16pm.

lai ah lai ah… squeeze through the crowd. Today there are more viewers and photographers.

A cloudy, or should I say a hazy sky.

A shot before the show starts. Actually the moon is quite irritating.

I think it looks like a palm tree theme.

Smoke out lo… Very smoky, not a nice shot.

Looks as if the ground is burning.

Quite nice eh… but if the while is only at one side will be even better.

Finale.

Today is NDP 2006. I am going to Kallang Basin just opposite the river can see the Indoor Stadium and National Stadium to take photos of the fireworks.

My Humble Equipment

Today, I got nothing to do. Therefore, I decided to make my own home studio with table lamp and ceiling lights as my lightings, coffee table as the working table, and white cloth as the background and base.

I present to you, my whole range of equipment, less those unimportant stuffs which I just list down. Actually there are more but it is stupid to put all the tiny little accessories into my list.

You can enlarge the view by clicking on the image

Poly Class Gathering at Toas Restaurant on 4th Aug

Forgot to upload some of the photos I took during my poly class gathering. We had sumptuous 7 course meal. And I had became a rubbish bin because I am so hungry and did not had my lunch on that day.

Everyone were thinking what they should eat.

Who wants “bla bla bla”, raise up your hands.

Look at their faces, so excited to order their choices.

Don’t know what this is called but it is sweet. Wanted to hide my glass and get another. So small only!

Don’t know what is this called also. Aiyah, most of the dishes I don’t know their name. This one is the toasted bread with don’t know what baked creamy thingy.

This one leh, a lot of small pieces of imitation crab stick meat with a lot of fruits in it. If got mayo then best!

The fungus, I named it.

This one I know! Cream of Mushroom Soup!

My main dish, Steak! Yum yum, my favourite.

The 6th dish, don’t know what C??? L??? Forgotten the name also. *edit* I just realised that the plate is chipped off! How can they serve with a chipped off plate? Their cups and spoons and some here and there are not standardized.

The last course will be my Ice Grass Jelly with Peppermint Tea. I forgot to take photo of the cute pot they used to serve us with. $33.30 after GST and Service Charge for the meal. Not bad la, 7 course meal. But I have to eat more bread after that meal. Hah!

Singapore Fireworks Festival 2006 - Team ITALY by Mr Francesco AMBRICO of Magic Events

Today is the first time I am taking fireworks. And I was so excited. I arrived at Esplanade Drive, aka Esplanade Bridge, at 5.45pm, and I can see about more than 10 tripods already been set up. So, I joined in the fun and set up my beautiful tripod too. Soon later, more and more people arrived and a row of tripods are ready deployed along the railing. Ashley and Marcus also joined me after they decided to come over instead of going to Benjamin Sheares Bridge.

Standing there, waited till 9pm, at last the fireworks starts. Happily, I snapped away with my new remote and suddenly, after dunno how many shots, my shutter doesn’t work! I thought it was my remote, and I was troubleshooting my camera. 1 minute gone. I restarted my camera, but it doesn’t work! Another minute gone, I tried to detach my lens and attached again, no go! 3rd minute gone, I tried to take out and insert my memory card, but no go again! 4th minute gone, I tried to restart my camera again, no go again! 5th minute gone, I asked Jack to get me my spare memory card. So until the 6th minute, at last, I am shooting again. My 1GB micro drive is not fast enough to write the images, that is why it hanged!

Sucks big time. But, I am not disappointed. Because, just a few hours ago, a lady from Memory World called me and told me my mass order for a Transcend 4GB 120X CF card is in stock! HA! I will be shooting away during the next fireworks without having to worry about the writing speed anymore! Below are some photos I took just now. Get prepared to see a lot of photos. If your computer and internet speed is slow, please bear with the loading speed.

The top right corner is not any fault with my camera, but a plane just happen to fly into my field of view and snapped it

Esplanade by the Bay taken on Esplanade Drive

Me waiting patiently, one of the early birds who “action-front” the tripod at 5.45pm

The tidbits Abby bought, in the end, she never finish them and went home at 7pm because she needs to give her cat at home an injection. So, I brought home the whole bag of tidbits, and 3 hotdog buns.

This is Abby, took with my 50mm f1.7 lens. Same “dynasty” as my 28-135mm beercan lens. Designed and first produced in 1980. Nice bokeh isn’t it? For those who don’t know what is bokeh, it is the result of the blur image which is not in focus.

As you can see, more people are coming in at about 6.30pm.

One of my test shots before the fireworks starts at 7.30pm.

Another scenic shot.

One of the shots taken just after my memory card gone mad. Lucky I did not miss the nice parts of the fireworks.

Don't know where does the red stray lights come from.

The finale. The fireworks were nice, and the music played creates the right ambience as the fireworks cracked. Well done Italian team! It was Magical!

Next show, Tue, 8 Aug 2006 - Team SINGAPORE by Mr Hery NG of Spectaworks Pte Ltd.

Boring Week

What a boring week. Everyday, I will just walk into my office, log into my account, open Outlook Express and check my mail. Not more than 5 emails per day. Sometimes, only 1 or none.

Other than checking mail, I will just sit on my office’s sofa, reading my Konica Minolta Dynax 7D book which I bought and fall asleep after reading a few page. After I woke up, I will just walk over to the next office and surf the net, checking on cheap deals and discussion in ClubSNAP.

Basically, it is just like staying at home doing nothing. No difference at all. I just wish I can go out of camp and roam around anywhere I can go rather than hiding myself in office.

My parents are going USA for holiday in October from 6th to 25th. Fly to Las Vegas and many other places, fly here fly there, so envy… So long. Now I have to think of what to cook while they are away.

Oh yah, Happy Birthday Anthony! Hope you will enjoy your day!

It is here!

MSN Spaces is now Windows Live Spaces. There are so many changes in MSN now. Everything is going Live! But the new Windows Live Spaces which you see now in my blog is giving me a bit of problem. There are some errors here and there. Well, it is in the phase of transition from old to new.

Friends, my new blog address is http://yokechye.spaces.live.com/ no longer spaces.msn.com. No more msn. But MSN will still redirect you to my new blog address even if you use the old one. Be prepared to see some errors here and there.

Oh… I think they had extended the centre blog entries width. Last time my photos are based on the width of the old layout. Now, I can post bigger photos!

That time when I was walking around Suntec and decided to enter the shop called NIKKO, the model shop at a corner near Carrefour. They sells a wide range of collectables but of course their price is not cheap too. They are of high die-cast quality and prints. I saw this Airbus A380 selling at $70. So tempted to buy. But must “ren”. Camera products is more important to me now. HA! Must control myself!
