2 weeks already past in SISPEC and I still don't like to be inside. Even though everyday we shout "With Pride We Lead SISPEC", I don't have any feelings for it.
1st day of SISPEC was a lost. The regimental in there was higher than in BMTC. It was a "cultural shock" for me. During BMT, we were told that our coy Viper will most likely be together in the same coy in SISPEC. But this batch I am in, it's not the case. All of us were split into different coys. I was so sad that time. My buddies in BMT are not going to be together in the same bunk. I was posted to Alpha coy platoon 1. Suresh is in my platoon too but different section. He is in section 1 whereas myself in section 3. Isaac, Dawen and Guoliang are in Alpha too but different platoons. My section, there is one guy from Viper too... Kelvin from Viper 3.
1st night I cried. Cried because I missed my BMT platoon mates. Missed the wonderful days we had during those days. Cried after 2200 lights off. Couldn't sleep for half hour.
Next day, there are alot of admin and things to settle. The second night, I cried again. Once again, I cried because I missed my BMT platoon mates. It is sad that we have to be split up to different coys. But I managed to get my sleep at about 2215.
Third day was better. I managed to back to my own self. I am not that depressed as the 1st day. Then, I managed to make a few new friends in my section. As days past, I remembered my section mates friends. But I still do not know the whole platoon mates name and also my Sergeants. My section mates are quite nice people. I am in bed 3 and bed 2, Ryan, always like to talk on the phone at night. Reminded me of Alvin Lim who was in my BMT's Viper section.
1st week we had uncountable numbers of lectures. Physical activities are not exempted of course. At last I can see a passing mark for my SOC test at 9.33. SOC is my worst activity I wanted to take part in since the last SOC during my BMT phrase. By right i should have pass with a timing of 9plus mins but don't know which Sergeant recorded the wrong timing as 16plus mins. Since then until my first SOC test in SISPEC, I was demoralized.
First book out on Sat was a heaven to me. At last i can get away from the regimentals in SISPEC and a breath of fresh air. Sunday was book-in day. The day where i left off without entering my Blog with details. Its a special first book-in day as we are to wear our civilian cloths.
Second week of SISPEC is as usual. We had lectures, tests and practical. Second week was a very tiring week for me. I had guard duty on Tuesday at the ammo dump point. I did not get much sleep even though we were to sleep for 4 hours for every 2 hours shift we took. But it doesn't work actually. Especially the next day is the navigation test. After my second shift, I stayed awake for about 30 to 45 mins to study my navigation. Then I slept in the admin office lobby as the guard's bunk is so stuffy.
Wednesday is a late night too as we had to prepare the NDF for our Navigation Gypsy 1 the next day. I slept at about 11plus close to midnight. 2 nights without enough sleep. I felt so shag. Thursday Gypsy 1 was exciting and fun. I have to catch up with the others as i missed the previous night navigation practice the others had when i was doing my guard duty. During the Gypsy 1 I learned alot of things. We reach coy line at about 2045 after completing the mission with guild from my section commander and lights off was at 0000. The good thing is, we had to fall in at 0635. So we still have quite enough sleep but was woken up by other company marching pass my coy line as they sing.
Anyway today was not a very tiring day. We had our first and last swimming lesson in Hendon Camp. We learned how to float in 3 ways, prone, face up and tuck in which you will curl up by grabbing you legs. It’s kinda silly as we have to hold on our breadth to do the prone and tuck in float. The next thing is we have to swim in our long 4. YES!! Long 4. It was very heavy and we need to use more force to get ourselves moving and getting out of the pool because our long 4 was so heavy.
The finale, we gotto jump down from 1m platform, actually its lower than 1m la.. around 500-600mm height, and also the 3m platform. 1m was kind of fun and I don't feel anything. But when it comes to 3m jump, I felt scared abit but managed to get myself clearing that last jump of the day.
After which, we get changed into our civilian and had a quick lunch at the Hendon Camp basketball court and book out!! Yeah, Christmas Eve. Happy Christmas Eve to all !!
tata...
